'Life is my inspiration. I feel the need to express my emotions, tell my stories, interpret and record my dreams and the scenes that surround me.'
Born in 1962 in Vancouver, BC, Canada, of Caucasian & Hawaiian ancestry, Krista Gail Gerwing grew up in a milieu of art & artists.
'I remember as a child, watching my Grandfather in front of his easel, brush in hand, colours everywhere, the smell of turps & linseed oil invading my senses. My parents owned a gallery specializing in Inuit & North American Indian art & I was fortunate enough to work for them while studying Fine Arts & Design.'
Resident artist for several galleries in Vancouver from her adolescence, Krista left Canada for Switzerland in 1983. She continued showing in Canada until the birth of her first son. In 2000, she decided to take up her art career again, opening a new workshop/gallery in Bussigny-près-Lausanne.
'If you want to see me in my workshop during the day, you'd best make an appointment. I am a night owl. I prefer to work late, once night has fallen & I am able to unveil my most intimate thoughts.'
Krista is currently working as a graphic designer and illustrator for the Swiss Group, BeMore in Lausanne.
